Nobuo Sekine, once hero of the time as a central figure of “MONO-Ha” school back in 60’s, returned home from Italy in ’73, and suddenly established Environment Art Studio Inc., which made him take a distance gradually from avant-garde thought of the day. Sekine, pursuing what he believes in art, finally pronounced “Phase Conception” in 1987, and devoted himself single-mindedly to producing the series in a short period of time by ’92. How then could we possibly understand this? This solo show is to search in depth of Sekine Art by focusing on the short yet sparkling moment. Adding 5 newly appeared drawing, which was produced for the coming solo show in Seoul, October, to this solo show, we study the present Sekine. The time has now being catching up, at last, to the though of a genius whose idea bloomed too early. Now is the time for Nobuo Sekine.
